Turam’dan Geleceğin Turizm Elçilerine Eğitim: Okul Öncesi Çocuklara Tarih ve Kültür Aşısı

Mersin University Tourism Research and Application Center (TURAM) created an educational and lasting impact on preschool children through an exemplary social responsibility project carried out within the scope of Tourism Week.

Under the leadership of TURAM and in collaboration with the Tourism Student Club, the project instilled awareness of recognizing, protecting, and valuing historical and cultural assets in over 200 kindergarten students. Throughout the event, children were provided with education supported by entertaining presentations, coloring activities, interactive narratives, and gifts.

The project coordinator TURAM Director Prof. Dr. Meryem Samırkaş Komşu drew attention to the fact that education given at an early age creates lasting values in individuals. Prof. Dr. Komşu stated:

"The preschool period is a critical stage where personality development and values are established. History and culture-themed activities targeting this age group develop both national belonging and sensitivity to universal heritage. As TURAM, we are determined to expand such educational programs to all segments of society."

During the event, TURAM Deputy Directors Asst. Prof. Dr. Anıl Kale, Lecturer Dr. Sercan Benli, Res. Asst. Dr. Yusuf Çağrı Türkseven, and Res. Asst. Neslihan Şimşek took direct responsibility in activity areas. Additionally, Tourism Specialist Meryem Ezgi Sakar from Silifke District National Education Directorate, Arzu Gürgenç from Erdemli Alata Horticultural Research Institute, and Tourism Student Club members also contributed.
